Abstract Painting
Vasarely is almost everywhere here, and the distortion of multiple vanishing points. Add to this some Japanese, Celtic, African and Chinese influences. Only a few examples are shown here. I would love to paint some of these as large-scale murals!
Fire. Painted silk, 820mm x 820mm. Cat. no. 109. Sold.
Stretched silk painted with a heat gun on layers of wet dyes. You can wear it, or frame it on your wall

The final scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey is the inspiration for this one. There are a few different versions, twisting the perspectives in various intensities.

This painting, which I like very much, was left on sale-or-return in a gallery up north, with some works by my fellow artist Dave Jenkins. The gallery closed down and the owner didn’t even have the courtesy to notify the artists… If you have this piece hanging on your wall, please note that the artist has never been paid for his work.
La Techtonique des plaques. Gouache and ink on paper, 700mm x 500mm. Cat. no. 305. Sold.
Tensions are exacerbated by the extreme distortion of conflicting perspectives.
The Great Corruptor. Ink and charcoal on paper. Cat. no. 325. Sold.
A painstaking work, quasi-monastical, of precision and concentration. But it pays off!

This is a once-off piece of luck. I’ve tried to reproduce it several times without ever succeeding in retrieving the same visual effect. It is shown here in situ in its new home

Standing on a wild Kerry mountain top in the middle of a bright breezy day, this is what you might feel!
