In the 1980s I spent a lot of time foraging in a second-hand bookshop on the Boulevard du Midi in Brussels. In the immortal Bouquinerie Pêle-mêle, against wall and walls of books onabsolutely everything, piles of old magazines from the previous 40 years were sold by weight. The Paris Match photo reportage magazines from the 1960s were well used!

The photo on the top half is by Bruno Stevens, Baghdad, 2004. The photographer for the bottom half is unknown; it might have been taken during the coal strikes under Thatcher in the 1980s.

This is my oldest recorded work, no. 0! Photo taken from a copy of “Paris Match” May 1968, Paris.
